About the Author, Dr. Horace Williams

Horace WilliamsHorace Williams, Jr. is the Senior Pastor of Faith Memorial Baptist Church of St. Helena Island, SC. Dr. Williams is known throughout South Carolina and abroad for his accomplishments in education and religion. Shortly after receiving an Associate of Arts from Mather Junior College and a Bachelor’s of Science Degree from South Carolina State College, he started his teaching career. Later, he received a Master’s Degree, also from SCSC. He completed further studies at Clemson Univ., Converse College, University of Virginia, Columbia College, Morris College, and the University of South Carolina.

For more than forty-years, Dr. Williams has been involved in education and worked to improve educational opportunities for children and adults in the secular and religious fields. The author received a Doctorate of Religious Education Degree from Bethany Theological Seminary in Dothan, Alabama where he graduated Summa Cum Laude. His thesis theme is: Evangelism and Church Growth.

Dr. Williams has received the Dr. Martin Luther, Jr., Humanitarian Award, and The Presidential Citation from Morris College among some ninety-seven other plaques and citations. He has spoken to audiences larger than 10,500 attendees. He has traveled to Seoul, Korea and the rural areas of Zimbabwe, Africa, where he preached and taught.

Although it may be said that Dr. Williams has ascended to the summit of dignity and respect in his life, he never loses the common touch or the ability to empathize with those less fortunate than he. His concern for people has been made clear to all who know him.
